describe the reflex action of the muscle of the iris of the eye?

The muscles of the iris control the amount of light entering into the eye through the pupillary aperture (pupil). There are two sets of muscles that accomplish this - circular (constrictor) and radial (dilator) muscles. As you can imagine, when the circular muscles contract the pupil becomes smaller and when the dilator muscles contract the pupil becomes bigger.
These muscles are supplied by the autonomic nerves - sympathetic and parasympathetic. The constrictor muscles are supplied by the parasympathetic nerves, so that when parasympathetic activity is increased as by sleep or drugs, pupil constricts. Conversely, when sympathetic activity is increased as by excitement or drugs (sympathomimetics), the pupil dilates.
When light is shown into the eye, the impulse is conveyed by the optic nerves at the back of the eye to the brain from where the nerves fibers travel back to the eye.
